I had a brief encounter with longevity on Saturday night.
Eartha Kitt performed here in town and I photographed some of the performance for the Oregonian’s Monday morning review.
Plenty has been written and spoken of the fabulous Ms. Kitt…I won’t even try. I’m just excited (still) that I had the chance to see what it’s really like to kick it at age 81.

Back when I was studying literature and drama, I stumbled on this line from Tennessee Williams: “Snatching the eternal out of the desperately fleeting is the great magic trick of human existence.” I wrote it down and haven’t really thought about it in years. Thinking about it now, I guess it reflects how I feel about taking pictures.
